Android surpasses iOS in free apps (Appolicious)

Google hard work meet the ground even iOS operating system Apple (AAPL), quickly work to match the best features of Apple while retaining the different strengths, Android has to offer, as the choice and variety. Now, it seems that at least a point, the oft revered and highly populated iTunes App Store has been exceeded by less strongly controlled counterpart.

According to a history of TechCrunch, Android has now exceeded iOS in the number of free applications available for users. The information comes from the app store analytics firm Distimo, which monitors the numbers app on various platforms. Conclusions of the Distimo put Google's Android market to 134,342 free applications available for download iTunes, on the other hand, features 121,845 apps for free.

Those are interesting numbers and Distimo estimated that over half applications on the Android market are available free of charge, while the ratio of free paid apps Apple is more like one in three. Numbers are also broken by store but not by the platform, so the number of total apps in the app store of the GetJar shop, for example, includes BlackBerry and Palm applications and not factor into the Android numbers. Appstore Amazon (AMZN), a market for applications just Android came into force last month, also is not represented in the findings of the Distimo, so it is possible to y apps in both or one of these places are available for Android and users, but are not represented in the total of the free app.

The Android Market is still far behind Apple in the total number of apps, however - breakdown of category of Distimo concludes that it y 333,124 iPhone apps available on iTunes, while Android has 206,143. Apple iPad apps has increased by 12% in March, jumping to 75,755 apps total for the tablet with 34,120 designed for the iPad only - putting the total number of apps iOS available at 367,334. In the Android camp, there is no differentiation between the Tablet PC and phone apps yet.

The Android Market has experienced a considerable growth, thus, increase of 16% in March (compared to 18% for iOS when you combine iPad and iPhone, which was in fact a decrease). And both platforms are advance their most close competitors, Nokia (NOK) Ovi Store (29,920 apps) and Research In Motion (RIMM) World App for BlackBerry (26,771 apps).

Android may be behind iOS in terms of quantity of app store, and free applications are not exactly a qualitative measure either. But what we see is an influx of developers of Google platform as it becomes more and more popular with consumers, and having a broad base of free apps is a big thing for even more people embrace Android. This means more money, more developers and better apps. Google now just must guarantee the security of his store.
