Quarterly Profit Falls from Microsoft under Apple for the first time in 20 years (Mashable)

Microsoft has reported a quarterly profit that is smaller than Apple for the first time in 20 years, as the iPad ate sales of portable computers. Income net of Microsoft for the quarter was $ 5.2 billion compared to Apple $ 5.99 billion. According to Bloomberg, it is the first time in 20 years that the Apple quarterly earnings overshadowed Microsoft. The milestone comes after Apple Microsoft in market capitalization last year.

Pat Becker, Jr., Director of Becker Capital Management, said that there was "no doubt" that the iPad is cannibalizing sales of laptops, against Microsoft.
