WASHINGTON (AFP) - Amazon apologized Friday for an interruption of its hosting service Web that struck a number of companies offline, including popular sites like Foursquare, Quora and Reddit.
The Seattle-based Amazon, Washington has also recognized that some customers lost data following technical problems which began on 21 April and said that he would offer a credit of 10 days for customers whose sites have been affected.
Amazon is best known as an online retailer, but the company is also a major provider of cloud computing services, renting space on its powerful servers to customers around the world.
In its statement of nearly 6,000 - word Friday, his first public detailed explanation of the failure, Amazon, said: "We want to make an apology."
"We know how critical our services are for our customers and we will do everything we can to learn from this event and use it to drive improvement through our services", added.

Amazon said "several causes that interact with the root one" were the cause of the failure, but the main was a disastrous attempt to move the traffic capacity on a network upgrade.
