Amazon issues credits, apology for the failure of Web (Reuters)

BOSTON (Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc. has apologized to customers for a failure to its Web hosting business that caused a few crash sites, it would be their credit for their inconvenience.


Although Amazon.com is best known as one of the greatest shopping sites in the world, it is also one of the largest provider of Web hosting services, a region where it is in competition with Google Inc., Microsoft Corp. and several small businesses.


April 21, services to some of its customers have been disrupted due to technical problems which the company disclosed in a long document published Friday.


The company said in a display of blog nearly 5,700 words that most of its customers had their systems restored by April 24, but a small amount of data has not yet be recovered.


"We want to apologize", the company said in the blog view. "We know how critical the our services business of our customers and we will do everything we can to learn from this event and use it for the improvement of the reader in all of our services.".


Amazon.com said that it would give affected customers a credit of 10 days for their use in the affected systems.


Shares of the company increased by 0.3% to $195.71 in exchange for midi.
