Apple can provide live Updates for iOS, Mac OSX

Apple will provide live updates for iOS 5, while the next version of Mac OSX Lion will be delivered through the App Store Mac, according to two separate reports. Instead of having users chained to iTunes for their iOS updates, Apple may introduce updates OS wireless, removing the need for a computer in the process.

Apple is widely expected to introduce a new version of its mobile OS this year, and Mac 9 to 5 reports that one of the features will be updated live. Although iOS 5 comes on-line himself, point updates will be delivered to the wireless network, and Apple is reportedly in talks with Verizon about it. Due to the complexities with the updated wireless system, Apple would reduce the size of iOS (which are larger than 600 MB) updates and also introduce a cloud backup system, independent of iTunes tethering.

Unlike Google, which updates Android wireless system to update current Apple allowed him to prevent some users from iOS updated very quickly. TechCrunch points out a good example: the update iPhone location, where all users are able to update in the week, while the Android 2.3 update is installed only on 4 per cent of eligible after five months of availability devices. The process of slow update on Android is mainly because the factory (which need to update their custom user interfaces first) and carriers, to provide updates to wireless. It will be interesting to see if the carriers will be neck updated live iOS of Apple in the future, too.

In related news, Apple also changes the way it provides OS updates to Mac desktops and laptops, according to a report from AppleInsider. Mac OSX Lion is set to arrive this summer, and unlike now, it does come on one DVD (or USB drive in the case of the MacBook Air), according to the report. The Mac App Store will be used instead to deliver the new OS, which is if you have Snow Leopard. Currently, Apple is allowing developers to download pre-release builds of Lion via codes of redemption in the Mac App Store, a real deployment is likely. It is believed that OSX Lion DVD will always around for those with slow connections.
