TOKYO - Sony executives if inclined apologized Sunday for a security hole in PlayStation Network company which caused the loss of personal data of some accounts of 77 million on the service online.
"We apologize deeply for the inconvenience that we have," said Kazuo Hirai, head of video game PlayStation Sony Corp., who was among three executives bowed for several seconds at the Tokyo company headquarters in the Japanese traditional style of an excuse.
Hirai said parts of the service would be back this week and that the company would beef up security measures. But he and other executives acknowledged that not enough had been done in security measures and promised that the company's network services were under a base review to prevent the resurgence.
Hirai, stated that the FBI and other authorities were contacted to start an investigation into what the company called "cyber criminal" the Data Centre of Sony in San Diego, California.
Sony said the account information, including names, dates of birth, addresses e-mail and log-in information, has been compromised for players with its PlayStation Network. Hirai asked all users to change their password.
Hirai reiterated that the company said last week - that even if it had no direct evidence, data were even taken, it cannot exclude the possibility.
He said $ 10 million credit card data were suspected to be involved, and that Sony still do not know if the information was stolen.
Sony added improved data protection and monitoring software and encryption as new security measures, he said. The company said that it would be "Welcome" gifts such as free downloads and 30 days of free service around the world to show remorse and appreciation.
"I see my work as the first to make sure that Sony can regain the trust of our users", Hirai said.
The network, serving machines PlayStation video games and film Qriocity of Sony and music services, has been closed since April 20. It is a system that connects the players in the world with live game and also allows users to upgrade and download games and other content.
Hirai said that suspected Sony that he is attacked by pirates from April 17.

Pressure mounts on Sony to restore services and to compensate the players.
U.S. legislators sent a letter demanding answers Hirai by May 6 on the violation of security and the response from Sony.
Hirai said he had read the online version of the letter and answer the questions as soon as possible.
Last month, U.S. lawyers filed a lawsuit against Sony for the applicant to lead Kristopher Johns for negligence protection of personal data and the failure to inform the players in a timely manner that their credit card information has been stolen. The suit seeks class action status.
Hirai said network problems would not injure or delay the plans of Sony products, including a tablet device that looks like iPad of Apple, to upgrade the PlayStation Portable and a progressive global deployment of the Qriocity service.
Sony also denied Hirai had deliberately held off the coast of out information on networking problems, a criticism that some have expressed.
He said the service was shut down to prevent damage, and this time was necessary to find out what happened and who was responsible.
