To position itself as an authority of the industry in line and collar some traffic research, Foot Locker has launched Sneakerpedia, a Wikipedia for sneakerheads. Although on the Wikipedia model, the site, which launched officially (it was in beta) on May 17, differs in several respects. The entries also let users record their "stories personal sneaker" and search related sneakers. At the moment, there is no link to buy all the shoes online. Brand of Foot Locker is also retained - there is just a "powered by Foot Locker" mention under the logo of Speakerpedia.
Matt Powell, an analyst with SportsONESource, an industry news portal sporting goods, said that sneakerpedia is a "very smart idea", which will be associated with Foot Locker with the community of sneakerhead. Influential sneakerhead sites that focus on future versions, Sneakerpedia has more than one direction towards the rear, which could find an audience. "The hope is that this will give them more credibility Street," said Powell. "Foot Locker does not all shoes out there, but that said"we get culture"."
