RIM launches two new phones, new BlackBerry 7 OS (PC Magazine)

ORLANDO - Display of the retina, meet "graphics." liquid RIM today announced two powerful new BlackBerry phones with touch of high resolution screens, processors fast 1.2 GHz and a new OS offers better graphics than before BlackBerry.

The BlackBerry bold and 9930 9900 are the HSPA (AT & T/T-Mobile) and CDMA / HSPA + (Verizon/Sprint world) versions of the same thing: a BlackBerry Bold stretched-out with a 2.8-inch touchscreen 640 by 480. This is not high resolution to the other smartphones top range, but it is a very rich and dense screen for its small size.

Both phones run 1.2 GHz Qualcomm processor and 8 GB of storage, cameras 5 megapixels with video HD 720 p recording, Wi - Fi and Bluetooth.

Phones have also integrated NFC technology touted that could allow phones to be used as mobile wallets, if banks never decided to support. NFC may have applications in business, even if, for things like based on the proximity of identity cards.

The new BlackBerry OS 7 brings the capacity of "liquid graphics", which we are convinced that to hear more about the BlackBerry world fair later today. According to the press release from RIM, it offers "60 frames per second performance with instant action of the user/response interface," which is not to say anything. We'll see how it works in demos today.

Rather than being an entirely new OS, BlackBerry 7 is an upgrade to the existing BlackBerry 6 OS. It was "designed to power the new BlackBerry Bold platform" - involving it may not work on previous phones - and added better graphics capabilities, a faster browser and BlackBerry equilibrium, which allows the users to separate personal content on smartphones.

We will have more details on all of these features later today.
