Twitter buys TweetDeck, terms not disclosed

NEW YORK - Twitter confirmed Wednesday that he has bought TweetDeck, a popular software application of third parties which organizes tweets, short messages provided by the social network online.

Terms and conditions of the transaction not disclosed in a statement, but a source told Reuters earlier this month here that an agreement for up to $ 50 million was imminent.

Jodi Olson of Twitter said that Twitter plans to invest in TweetDeck.

These last months, Twitter has plagued on providers of third-party applications such as TweetDeck as a means to protect its territory.

The London-based TweetDeck was in talks with UberMedia, a Web company founded by Bill Gross that collects Twitter applications. Some commentators have speculated that they could be used to create a rival network to Twitter.

On Twitter, which allows people to send 140 characters, or tweets, text messages to groups of supporters is one of the most popular social networking sites of the Web with Facebook and Zynga.

Facebook may have disclosed personal information: Symantec

Third parties have access to personal information such as profiles, photographs and cat and would have the ability to display messages, said Symantec web blog.

"We believe that in April 2011, nearly 100,000 applications were for the leak," said the ticket blog.

" ... Over the years, hundreds of thousands of applications may inadvertently leaked million tokens for access to third parties, "threatening the security, said the blog."

Third parties may not have realized their ability to access to information, said the ticket blog.

Facebook has been advised of the issue and confirmed the leak, the post said.

The blog also said that Facebook, most large social networking of the world site, has taken steps to resolve the problem.

Facebook was not immediately available for comment.

Facebook has more than 500 million users and dispute of Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc. for the time of users online and for advertising dollars.
