NEW YORK - Amazon.com Inc. announced Thursday that it now sells digital e-books more than paper books, and that its recently introduced lower-priced Kindle e-reader is surpassing the other versions of the aircraft.
Amazon, which does not disclose exact figure for the Kindle or e-books, said that, for every 100 printed books, it has sold since April 1, he sold 105 e-books. That includes the Pocket Books hardcover, and excludes the free downloads.
Last month, Amazon introduced a Kindle for $114 or $25 less than the next most expensive version, featuring advertising.
The Kindle has fought with iPad Barnes & Noble Inc. corner and Apple Inc. for e-book sales. The Kindle was launched in 2007 and is by far the best-selling device specifically made for reading digital books.
Barnes & Noble organizes a Tuesday press event in New York to unveil a new e-reader. Last month, Barnes & Noble introduces improvements to its corner of color.
