SAN FRANCISCO - Smartphones powered by the Google software have extended their advance on BlackBerry devices in the U.S. market during the first three months of the year, the industry tracker comScore reported Friday.
Android smartphones down BlackBerry in January in seizing 31.2% of the US market, and this share rose to 34.7 per cent at the end of March, according to comScore.
The blackBerry devices made by based on the Canada Research In Motion (RIM) lost ground in the quarter, end of March with 27.1% of the U.S. market.
Apple was close behind RIM with iPhone running on the mobile platform of the company of California Commander 25.5% of the market, according to comScore.
Samsung is the manufacturer of top global handset with a share of 24,5% of the U.S. market, says comScore, followed by LG with 20.9%, Motorola with 15.8%, RIM with 8.4% and Apple with 7.9%.
According to comScore, 234 million Americans belonging to mobile devices at the end of March and the number of smartphones belonging to climbed 15 per cent to 72.5 million.
