Research in Motion recited a series of product update Conference world Blackberry Monday, including new bold smartphones, the Blackberry OS 7 and a couple of key apps for the tablet of manual of Blackberry.
Do not change the game announcements. I see nothing among the releases from RIM will be catapult Blackberry on the iPhone and Android in the smartphone wars and compressed, but they should help RIM hold on to some relevance that it ceases to dominate the smartphone market.
Here's what's new with Blackberry of RIM products:
BlackBerry OS 7
7 For the RIM Blackberry OS merge with QNX, the operating system that runs on the Blackberry tablet. Instead, Blackberry OS 7 adds some improvements such as voice search and a browser faster and smoother with the support of HTML 5.
Engadget reports that only new phones get Blackberry OS 7, leaving the relatively new Blackberry torch in the cold.
BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930
The first smartphones to run Blackberry OS 7 will be the 9900 bold and 9930. Due out this summer, the phones have a physical keyboard on the bottom and a touch screen 2.8 inches on top.
A 5 megapixel back camera supports video capture 720 p and field communication close support is integrated for the inevitable tag and the popularity of mobile payment.
Other features include a processor 1.2 GHz and 8 GB of integrated storage.
The GSM/UTMS Blackberry Bold 9900 supports the "4 G" that AT & T and T-Mobile are currently touting, while FAT 9300, a CDMA world phone is 3 G only.
Video and Facebook Chat for manual
The Blackberry manual will soon receive a couple apps which should have been available at the launch. Video chat, which will be delivered in a live update may 3, allows owners of manual talk to one another using cameras of the face and front and rear of the shelf.
Still no word on chat video cross-platform apps like Fring and Skype. A Facebook for Blackberry manual application will be available through App world some time this month, with the sons of news required, wall posts, photos, videos and chat.
BlackBerry balance
Here is an interesting feature for it pros concerned about tech consumer infiltration in the enterprise: Balancing Blackberry is a service that tries to separate business and personal uses on Blackberry smartphones.
When enabled, it prevents users from copying, send or in personal applications business data and indicate to the user when an action is against the policy of it. If the user leaves the company, balance allows the administrator remotely erase all information business while leaving intact the applications and personal information.
iPhone and Android management
Perhaps the most surprising news in the Blackberry world was the announcement of a management tool based on Web for administrators that supports Android and iPhone as well as Blackberry phones. This allows administrators to activate, delete, lock or otherwise manage wireless phones, while also accessing exclusive features for Blackberry, such as balance of aforementioned Blackberry. An admission that Blackberry dominates is no longer the company, and that give administrators a way to manage iPhone and androids is a must is implicit in the announcement.
