HP gunning for Cisco in the arena of computer network

SAN FRANCISCO- Hewlett - Packard (HP) computer business unveiled Monday adapted to modern requirements of Internet, taking objective networking gear direct to Cisco in a market of billions of dollars.


HP introduced its new FlexNetwork architecture to connect data centers, campuses and branches as having "phenomenal capacity" and to be more affordable, more effective and safer than the offers of "incumbents" such as Cisco.


"This is a more modern architecture than what is there," HP executive vice president of enterprise servers David Donatelli, said a press conference webcast of comparisons of Cisco products or services.


FlexNetwork was built to "fully harness the power of" content rich media, virtualization, mobility and cloud computing, according to HP.


"Outgoing technology is outdated and stifles innovation and collaboration, said HP senior vice president of networking Marius Haas."


"To ensure the success and competitive advantage, companies need to move the resources for maintenance of complex legacy in innovation networks.".


HP has reported that its networking event was 183 per cent in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2010.
