NVIDIA Monday announced an agreement to acquire a manufacturer of processors for mobile phones 3 G and 4 G baseband and tablet computers. NVIDIA to acquire Icera of $ 367 million in an all-cash deal. The agreement should be final in 30 days.
With the grab Icera, Nvidia gets immediate access to more than 550 patents, with a range of products for wireless modem high speed more than 50 companies from around the world have already approved. Fact NVIDIA betting that combining tech of Icera with its Tegra processor will help compete in the growing mobile market.

Doubling of revenues
While Nvidia is expected to take a small success on the functioning of the costs through the first half of 2012, the company also provides gains in the second half of the year. NVIDIA is looking at the synergies of recipes to offer two main processors currently used in smartphones - the application processor and the baseband processor.
With the acquisition of Icera, Nvidia is positioned to help manufacturers of mobile devices to improve time to market while also offering on the next generation of mobile computing. Essentially, Nvidia on double its revenue with each device opportunities - and this is not small number.

As Charles King, principal analyst at Pund the he sees, acquisition of Nvidia's Icera points out how the company is serious about moving fast and aggressive, from its GPU business traditional.
"Graphics is always a large company for Nvidia, but the company recognizes that the GPU market part evolves rapidly that companies such as AMD and Intel integrate these capabilities in their processors," King said. "It is very important for Nvidia out ahead of the curve and begin to achieve a position for itself in other markets such as mobile."
Founded in 2002 and based in Bristol (England), Icera has approximately 300 employees in seven countries of Europe and Asia, and the United States. The company is manufacturing the third generation of its range of Livanto chipsets that support multiple standards on the same hardware. ICERA plans to launch the range Espresso450 and Espresso500 of platforms targeting 2 G, 3 G and 4 G networks with low-power for voice and high-speed data optimization soon.
