Time to tap: tests outright NFC at the Google Conference

Foursquare and Google join forces to allow a trial of Foursquare checkins via near field communication (NFC).

The test begins Tuesday at Google I/o, the annual Conference of developer in San Francisco. Foursquare and Google were equipped with NFC markers at various points in control of the Moscone Conference Center. Foursquare users can take advantage of their devices to the markers, both that they have a NFC device allowed to verify the location and win a special badge from Google of I/o.

The test "tap in" marks the first implementation of actual consumption of NFC of Foursquare check capacity apart from release 3.0 Foursquare in March of this year.

The team-up makes sense for both companies. Chips NFC should pave the way for a new era of the location of applications and services-oriented and Google has been long positions itself as an advocate of technology and the new Android devices are already shipping with chip NFC.

For Foursquare, the Conference offers exposure to a large pool of developers who may be inspired by the implementation - and go to build applications third place beef Foursquare ecosystem.

Reading "NFC is, obviously, far from being available everywhere and in all phones," a Foursquare update on the news, but we're excited by the potential. ?

Those without an NFC device can also choose scan the QR Codes on posters at the registration.
