Time to tap: tests outright NFC at the Google Conference

Foursquare and Google join forces to allow a trial of Foursquare checkins via near field communication (NFC).

The test begins Tuesday at Google I/o, the annual Conference of developer in San Francisco. Foursquare and Google were equipped with NFC markers at various points in control of the Moscone Conference Center. Foursquare users can take advantage of their devices to the markers, both that they have a NFC device allowed to verify the location and win a special badge from Google of I/o.

The test "tap in" marks the first implementation of actual consumption of NFC of Foursquare check capacity apart from release 3.0 Foursquare in March of this year.

ICANN adds Black Hat Conference Chief Hacker, Chief of security (PC Magazine)

The Internet Center for Assigned Names and Numbers, said Thursday that it had hired Jeff Moss, founder of the DEFCON and Conference Black Hat to direct security efforts.
