If you thought that a massive violation of the PlayStation Network was also bad news could obtain for Sony, think again. Sony has now confirmed that 24.6 million (Yes, million) accounts receivable information has been compromised, including 12 700 credit card numbers. The leak is directly linked to the attack that brought down the NHP and broadens its scope significantly.
Credit card information has been linked to European accounts and Japanese, with no info card U.S. confirmed to have been stolen. However, 24.6 million SOE customer accounts cover the entire globe. The information obtained by the rupture include names, addresses, birthdays, phone numbers, user names and passwords.
With notification of the breach, Sony said part of their scheme of compensation for the affected people. Subscribers MMO will receive 30 extra days added to their subscriptions and one additional day for each day that the network is down. The company also plans to provide assistance to any person who wishes to register for the protection of the identity of monitoring, but revealed no details on the works of the program.
