Although there are many drama to be had in the verse of Twitter, it is not often that you see as much drama more than Twitter and company customers purchases as we are now seeing with Tweetdeck. According to TechCrunch.com, Twitter has acquired the popular iPhone and iPad client, Tweetdeck and the operation of 40-50 million will be announced in the coming days. What happened to the agreement between Bill Gross Ubermedia and Tweetdeck from back in February? Obviously, it fell through. In any event, Twitter is to make a pretty strong gesture towards the acquisition of Tweetdeck, and it is not that difficult to imagine why.
Mike Butcher over at TechCrunch explains a little more. Currently, Twitter controls 100% of ads that pass through Twitter. This cancellation, there was also a study not that long ago that 0.05% of Twitter users revealed that lead approximately half of the total traffic. Power-users as they use apps like EchoFon and Tweetdeck for their versatility and their more robust features. Now, Ubermedia has already EchoFon. If they were to acquire Tweetdeck, they, in essence, be the "keepers" of these elite users and be responsible for about half of the tweets on the network.
Now, we begin to see the problem that Jack Dorsey faces at this time. What happens if Bill Gross has decided they were going to use the advertising space on the applications that they possess, and it takes from Twitter? What happens if Ubermedia decides to take his base of users elsewhere? I don't know of issues like these (and more) through spirit of Twitter now. We will see that the story unfolds, but it looks like Jack and his team is at the top.
