Sony: PlayStation Network resumed this week (PC World)

Sony is further investigation of the breach of security which shot its services online, PlayStation Network and Qriocity, but provides that the network of game will be in operation, this week, media, a company exec says Sunday afternoon in Tokyo.


Full service on the PlayStation Network to resume this week with the games online, a full service should be restored by mid-May, Executive Vice President Kazuo Hirai said media in a Conference which ended just a few minutes ago.


Sony will be welcome its users with free downloads of selected software, the company said.


What Sony called a "criminal cyber attack" centered on the San Diego data center, Hirai stated to journalists. The company has still no evidence of theft of data from credit card that customers pay for the PSN services, but cannot exclude the possibility.


The investigation continues, however. Hirai said that Sony had requested the assistance of the U.S. FBI to investigate network intrusion. Sony will also create a new position of Security Chief of the information in response to the hack.


Play unlimited music and networking will apparently be the first services to go back online, according to Sony. It seems to SonyStyle is a different system and not affected by the present.


Sony closes the network on 20 April, after April 18, it had been hacked, but did not disclose the breach until April 22.


Sony has attracted criticism from users and agencies of disparate, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Congress of United States, and officials in the capital of Taiwan, Taipei.
