Cox to close the wireless network, he began to build

NEW YORK - Cox Communications, a cable company third in America, said that it will be closed wireless network, he began to build.

The network is a more false start for a cable company in the wireless world. Cox built and sold to a wireless network in the 1990s. Then, it has begun and folded a consortium wireless with Sprint Nextel Corp. and other cable companies in the last decade.

Last November, Cox used the Sprint network to launch the service in Oklahoma City. Hampton Roads in Virginia. Omaha, Nebraska. and Orange County, California. It is said that it will continue this arrangement, sale of phones and service.

Cox spent $ 550 million to buy the rights of spectrum wireless for its own network and, potentially, hundreds of millions more out to build it.

Cox is private held and based in Atlanta.
