Microsoft free student offer Xbox with $699 PC purchase

Microsoft offers what may be his strongest incentive yet for students to purchase a Windows PC: a free Xbox. From May 22, the company will give a free 4 GB of Xbox console 360, a value of $199, secondary school students of the College who buy a Windows PC priced $699 or more. Verification of student status must be provided in the store (where a student ID is required) or online (if you need a ".edu" e-mail address). The transaction will be available at Best Buy, Microsoft, Dell.com and HP.com site store. Microsoft announced the deal on his Blog of Windows may 19.

Although it may seem strange that Microsoft offer an agreement aimed at students at a time when school is out, a rep said that late May is a time of big potential student purchase. "Students have told Microsoft they want a technology that gives their individual entertainment and pleasures of life and also allows them to manage their school work and life with ease," says the rep. "Windows provides that.".

The agreement comes also after Microsoft reported weak sales for its consumer PC unit last quarter, partly due to the introduction of iPad competitor to Apple 2.
