Amazon Kindle more books than print sale of books

WASHINGTON - giant of the retail online Amazon said Thursday that sales of digital books to Kindle electronic reader have exceeded sales of printed books.


"Clients are now choose Kindle books more often than printed books," Amazon founder and Chief Executive Jeff Bezos said in a statement.


"We had hoped that this would happen eventually, but we never imagined that it this would quickly", said Bezos. "We sell books printed for 15 years and Kindle books for less than four years.".


The Seattle-based Amazon, Washington said that since April 1, he sold 105 Kindle e-books for each 100 print, hardcover books and the combined paperback.


The company said that it had sold more than three times more numerous books Kindle until 2011 as it did during the same period last year.


Amazon has started to sell books printed in July 1995 and introduced the Kindle in November 2007.


The U.S. Kindle store offers more than 950 000 books, including the New York Times best sellers 111 109.


Amazon does not release sales for Kindle e-reader figures.
